Tuesday Night Track

I haven't posted our Tuesday workouts in a while. We've been going strong each week with the exception of last Tuesday with the possible tropical storm. Kim's triathlon group continues to be impressive as they steadily improve. They do have a pretty good coach :)

The Tuesday rebels made up of runners from Luke's Beat, TWRC, and WoodlandsFit continue to run and improve. Most of the group is doing San Antonio and it's still a little early to begin working really hard on the track so the workouts are still untimed shorter intervals. I do get a comment every now and then as to what I consider easy or hard as some will say we're working pretty hard now.

Last night we had a visitor. One of my very good friends Jon Minor who ran with one of the TNT groups I coached a few years ago was in town from Colorado to take a clinical skills exam. He's pretty close to becoming a full fledged MD. Jon was coming off a Half Ironman August 10 in Boulder were he finished in 4:55:15.Jon, in orange, lines up with Kim's athletes showing no effects from Sunday's Half Ironman, a quick plane trip, and an 8 hour clinical exam.

Being a very talented over achiever he clicked off his warm-up miles at a 7:15/mi pace (too fast if you are reading this Jon) and then cruised the workout at about a 6:50/mi pace which is about right for his LT pace...but only two days after his Half Iron ! Maybe a bit much but it was only a few miles and was fun to watch.Jon will be representing the USA at the ITU Long Distance Triathlon in Almere, Holland in a of couple weeks.

After training Jon, George Roffe, WoodlandsFit walk coaches Debbie Bower, Andrea Charbet, Kim Kitchens and I met up with Bill and Dana-Sue Crews at Goose's Acre. The highlight of the night was Dana-Sue getting carded...she mentioned it was the nicest thing that happened to her all day.Dana-Sue is all smiles as she's feeling young again

Awesome! I made Coach Bill's Blog (perhaps again). Now I have your site marked in my favorites that I can get the behind the scenes scoop on The Woodlands' runners! I feel like the lucky A&M alum who used to get Coach Fran's weekly newsletter, but I don't have to pay thousands of dollars for it. :-)
