The beginning of a challenging three weeks of being a little over extended began last night with the 7-Hills Running Club quarterly meeting. Yesterday’s challenge was getting from Deer Park to The Woodlands in time to car pool with the evening’s guest speaker Tony Allison and Jon Walk. I made it with time to spare and we were off to Huntsville.
The 7-Hills Club is very similar to TWRC as both are made up of members who truly love running on many different levels. Both clubs have some speedsters, both have some crazies, both have the more social runners, and both have some very inspiring people.
One of the very inspiring members of 7-Hills, Norman Langwell, was at the meeting last night. He was just selected by Governor Perry for the Fit Texan Award. He was selected among all state employees in Texas. Norman has become a very good runner in a short amount of time and with a little more experience look for a BQ sometime in the not to distant future. Given where Norman started from he is one of the most amazing people I have ever met.
This is the first 7-Hills meeting I’ve attended. The guest speaker was Tony Allison who is the President and one of the resident marathon maniacs of TWRC. Tony is collecting marathons in both states and continents. He currently has 26 states and 4 continents out of the 79 marathons and 1 ultra he’s run. Tony ran the Antarctica Marathon in March. His wife ran the half marathon. Tony spoke about their trip and the event. He also planted a teaser about an upcoming challenge between TWRC and 7-Hills that will involve both the Huntsville Half Marathon (Oct 11) and the Ten For Texas (Oct 18).
It was a fun meeting and it was good to see everyone.
Katy – when you fall during a run you get to name the spot…it can be as simple as the Katy Trail…or you can get creative with it.

Oh, I gave it a name, but I don't think I should repeat it on here! :)
I was wondering how those trails got named!! Hopefully, I don't get to name one any time soon.
I had no clue about that naming the trail.
The meeting sounds like it was an inspiring time.
