It went well last night.
Kim’s tri group, WoodlandsFit, and Team In Training all on a 6 lane track at the same time.
My fear has been that with the bigger training group we would get in each other’s way and not get a quality workout in. This didn’t happen. Everything went very smooth. Kim’s group stayed in lane 1 and 2, Fit and TNT who are running time intervals stayed in lanes 3 – 5, and the walkers stayed in lane 6. We did get in the walkers way a bit which will be fixed next week but all in all it went surprisingly well.
Kim’s group is pretty low maintenance – they show up, warm-up, do their drills, workout, cool off and are done.
Our “new to the track group” is doing great learning our routine and following track etiquette. We’ve been adding a little each week and had the complete workout outlined last night. Fit organizer Rich Cooper did a nice job explaining and leading the drills. The workout was 30/30’s (30 seconds hard, 30 seconds easy). It sounds so simple and easy to do. Our marathoners did 14 sets, and the half marathoners did 12. There wasn’t anything easy about the workout. Everyone worked hard and did very well.
