After 3 good weeks I had a very tough series of training days.
Mon - My daughter & I tried to see the Body Worlds exhibit at the Museum of Natural Science on Saturday. It was impossible to get a ticket so we changed our plans for Monday night. I really didn't know what to expect. It was very interesting. I know exactly what the IT band looks like now and how it all connects. I got home late and went right to bed...no run.
Tue - The Team Woodlands TNT runners and one dedicated Ten for Texas (104TX) runner met at Oak Ridge for an easy workout. The 104TX group had a scheduled night off coming off the RTW 5K on Saturday. We did eight 200 meter runs with a 200 meter walk. The running was done at a comfortable pace. I had planned on doing this workout with the group. We did the 200 meter runs between 1:00 - 1:05. Should be easy....but not for me this day. I had about the worst run yet this year. I just didn't feel right. Maybe the 3 hours of sleep the night before, the heat, eating poorly, or just being old fat and slow. I logged 1.75 miles. ( The group did great.)
Wed - Scheduled day off
Thursday - Back on track. I got home early and logged a hot & humid but otherwise good 4 miler. I was going to run with the Clearlake group but was a little scared after the Tuesday night performance.
I had some good news on my e-mail on Thursday that read......."Congratulations, you are an RRCA certified coach!! We will return your test with a certificate and add you to the website soon."
I had taken the certification course back in March when the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) convention was in town. We had 90 days to update our CPR & First Aid and submit the test. I took about 85 of those days, mostly to schedule a First Aid class I could get to. After answering a few "what if" questions about my essay answers I received the the note above. I was pretty pumped up. The course was tougher than I had expected...which is a good thing.
Fri - Scheduled day off
Saturday - The TNT'ers and 104TX runners did pretty well with longer runs in hot conditions. We had a couple tough out what they would consider poorer workouts but nothing like my Tuesday run. I think everyone did great. About 8 pm I managed to get out for an easy run of 6 miles. Felt really good.
Sunday - A slow run of 2 miles in the early evening. I was tired tonight.
Total miles - 13.75 ( had planned for 16 )
On to week 5
( Coach Kim is back for our track workouts so I have to get some rest for this coming Tuesday. Our track workouts will be moving to Knox Junior High on Grogans Mill in The Woodlands so we don't conflict with the OakRidge football team )

Hey, congrats on the coaching certification. That's great!! Quite an accomplishment.
Nice workouts this week. I've got to check out the Body Works exhibit before it's gone.
