Training Week 3 - 8/7 - 8/13

Week three actually proved to be pretty good.

Monday - 2 miles in the evening – very comfortable pace

Tuesday – I met the Ten For Texas and TNT Marathoners at Oak Ridge for our track session. Everyone did very well. I did jump in for 300 meters twice and since I was timing everyone I had to sneak a peek for myself. 1:07 for the first, and the exact 1:07 for the second. Hmmmm…not so bad. I did an easy 3 miles when I got home….no watch.

Wednesday – scheduled day off

Thursday – Coach Miranda from the TNT Clearlake group called and cancelled the hill workout at Crenshaw Park. It had rained pretty hard in Pasadena and there were still thunderstorms in the area. I got home a little early and did an easy 3 in the subdivision. Felt pretty good.

Friday – scheduled day off

Saturday – I had scheduled our Ten For Texas & TNT Marathoners to run the RTW 5K as soon as I had heard that it was going to be a team challenge between the Houston Running Bloggers and the Seven Hills Running Club. I can also use the 5K times to better plan a strategy for both races we are training for and have some fun supporting Jon Walk and the Bloggers as they all supported our TNT team challenge back in January. (the TNT event was Jon’s idea in the first place). It was a busy morning as over 170 participants showed up for this event blowing away the previous record of 127 at the TNT challenge. I did see several of the bloggers that I have met before and had a chance to meet many that I have only communicated with here. I always like meeting people that have common interests. It was a pretty busy morning with the bigger than expected crowd and I did have volunteer duties so I did not get a chance to visit as much as I had wanted to. I’ll save that for when I have a break from coaching and I’m running some events November - February.

I did not run at the 5K – had a busy day after and did an easy 4 miler in the early evening – still feeling good.

Sunday – I chose to sleep in and did my 2 mile run after my mow the lawn warm-up at 7pm. Again felt good

Total for the week 14 miles

On to week 4

Good report, Coach. We definitely need to visit soon.
