2006 Reflections & 2007 Goals

Our office was closed today so I had some extra time to wrap up most of my 2006 log book and prepare 2007 which I will get to start using in less than a week. My total miles for 2006 are an all time low since I started keeping track of them in 1978. My race total is also at an all time low. The year really wasn't very good for me measured by miles or events run.

On the other hand it's been a great year having been involved with three Luke's training programs, the Beat Goes On, the Ten Beats for Texas, and our current Half Marathon group. It was also very rewarding coaching the Team In Training Fall team for the Nike San Francisco & Chicago Marathons. There are some pretty awesome people in all of these groups who I am very fortunate to have met and shared in their success.

It's been a great year volunteering. I was able to step up my effort at the CB&I Tri from being in charge of just 1 mile to the whole 3 mile run section to help Kim Hager out when she was looking after her daughter who was in the hospital. I was very involved with the Light the Night walk that raised $72,000.00 for the Leukemia Society and I even got to race direct a Run The Woodlands 5K. Add in some work on the Membership Committee for The Woodlands Running Club and it's been a very successful year in a support role.

My goals for 2007......
Take time off from TNT. Be there in a support role only for the new coaches (who will all do great)

Coach the Luke's Beat Program, (5K/10K) Jan 27 - May.
Maybe do the CB&I Tri this year.
Organize a summer youth run series through The Woodlands Running Club.
Coach the Luke's Ten for Texas Program, June - October.
Work on the planning committee for the Light the Night Walk.
Help with The Woodlands Running Club's community efforts.

Run at least 1500 miles
Run a decent 5K
Run a quality Sunmart 50K
Run at least 12 races

I'm glad you see how much you have accomplished by helping others achieve their goals. You have truly accomplished much in 2006.
