Monday - after a long day still managed to get out the door and jog two miles.
Tuesday - I might have run a mile pacing with the Ten for Texas & TNT runners as Kim Hager & I put them through a tough workout at Oak Ridge HS. They all did great with the workout. When I got home I hit my two mile loop.
Wednesday - Scheduled day off
Thursday - I work in Deer Park about 5 miles from Crenshaw Park in Pasadena where the Clearlake TNT group runs on Thursday nights. I hooked up with their coach Miranda Mallet and a couple runners from her TNT group. Crenshaw Park has a one mile jogging path around a pond. I arrived about an hour early and did a couple very slow miles to kill some time. I should have just waited. Miranda's run is pretty tough. A 2 mile warm up, then out to a frisbee golf course to run up and over two hills about 200 yards apart, another mile on the jogging path and then back out to the hills for 4 sets. Up and over, run 200 yards, up and over and return is 1 set. – Ouch.
I did half of the warm up (I had run two miles already) and half of the hill workout. It was an ugly run. I counted 4 miles total for myself.
Woodlands Connection
Miranda is the manager at Fitness Connection in Pasadena. The owner of Fitness Connection, Phil Howard, has run with our Team Woodlands TNT group. He is a great supporter of TNT and ran his first marathon at the Rock-N-Roll Marathon in San Diego this past June.
Miranda and I are the Texas Gulf Coast Coaches traveling with the Nike Woman’s Marathon TNT Team to San Francisco in October.
Miranda’s mom, Kay Mallet was the co-race director of the Run for Life 5K in Pasadena this past weekend.
Friday – a scheduled day off thank goodness. I will always take Fridays off as the alarm goes off at 3:30am Saturday to set up for our training groups in The Woodlands. I was pretty tired and a little sore from Miranda’s run. It’s a good feeling knowing you worked hard the day before.
Saturday - Both the Ten for Texas and TNT groups did great. Our route overlaps part of WoodlandsFit’s route and they look like they will have a good year. Kim Hager gave a clinic on “Eating on The Run” which I will post later. I did no running with the group. Just sag wagon duties, a little cheerleading, and a few photos. My role is coach, not runner on Saturdays.
From my home in Spring I have a 1 mile, 2 mile, 4 mile, and a 5 mile loop without leaving the subdivision. I ran the 4 mile loop, no watch, and felt pretty solid.
Sunday - I am not a morning runner. With a busy day ahead I did put in an easy 2 miles before Church. Again – felt good.
Total for the week – 15 miles – a good start
On to week 2.
