Friday - 5/1
Our company opened a branch operation in Zanesville, Ohio (east of Columbus) this past week. We shipped our start up inventory last Friday. I had planned on taking the day off to help with the set up of the CB&I Tri but with organizing our Ohio start up I was locked in at the office until 3pm. I did get to The Woodlands by 4pm and set up the Strive tent, picked up volunteer t-shirts, and met up with Dan Green to get his High School runners officially signed up as volunteers since the regional track meet was postponed due to Swine Flu concerns with UIL.
Saturday - 5/2
After about 3 hours of sleep I was off to The Woodlands at 4am to meet up with Les Ellsworth, Dan Jordan & Kim Hager to mark the 5K run course and make sure the Community Associations had it all coned off correctly. I met my volunteer crew at 6:15am, we went over the assignments, handed out shirts and waited for show time. This is the 6th year (every year of the event) I've helped with the Tri and many of the run volunteers have also helped all 6 years. Our crew does a great job and this year was no exception.
After the Tri I met up with Adrienne Langelier and we headed down to the Bayou Bash Relay were she was running on a very fast mixed team in the 4 x 2 mile relay. The Al Lawrence Running Club put on a good event. It's rather unique with laps inside and outside the Rice football stadium. Maybe next year we can organize some TWRC teams to compete. (Adrienne's mixed team easily won their division.)
Sunday - 5/3
Sunday is our day with our granddaughter which dominates most of the day. I had my first TWRC Board Meeting as President in the afternoon. The meeting went very well.
I did whack my little toe on my right foot pretty hard earlier in the day. It's pretty swollen and a nice shade of purple in color. Ouch.
Monday - 5/4
Our inventory and people arrived in Ohio and they started the week long process of setting up shelves and organizing materials. We're a couple weeks ahead of a big project kicking off. Monday night was our Strive run focus track workout. The workout was one of my favorites using a whistle to mark time to run hard or easy. Everyone did great.
Tuesday - 5/5 Cinco de Mayo
Tuesday is track day for the Strive Tri focus athletes. Most are coming off competing at CB&I so the workout was dialed back to 400's. After the workout the group met at Lupe Tortilla's for some Cinco de Mayo celebrations. I passed on the social time as I'm still feeling the effects of the busy weekend and work days. I opted for sleep over margaritas. I did get a couple miles in before bed. My toe doesn't hurt that much, more of a numb feeling.
Wednesday - 5/6
My track day. I didn't run or walk. Pretty tough day at work and my toe is still swollen, maybe even a little more than it was after last nights run. Bill Crews, Melissa Keith & Juliee Sparks did their respective workouts. It was the first time that I've seen Bill challenged during a workout. Melissa looked like she's getting some of her speed back and Juliee is steadily getting stronger (post baby). Other than Bill, Melissa & Juliee who's track workouts are set for Wednesday (and they are working hard), the overall atmosphere is very relaxed with many friends from Strive, TNT, Fit, TWRC & Luke's Beat making regular appearances. We always have good company. After the workout a few of us went to Goose's Acre to talk about running, boring everyone around us.
Thursday - 5/7
Busy, busy, busy at work. Picked up a new customer in Houston which kept us on our toes all day. I logged another two mile run about 9pm.

Wow! That is quite a week! I agree with TWRC bringing some competition to Bayou Bash.
Keep up the running.:)
Good job on the running. Thanks for the challenging workout Wednesday. I actually have a bit of soreness in my thighs today.
