Micro.......

One of the people I work with has set up a microbrewery (White House Brewing) and part of each week is spent talking about his different brews (good and bad) which offsets my talk about running (good and bad).

Today’s conversation was about the word microbrewery.

Part of the Wikipedia definition of a microbrewery states “while originally used to differentiate on the size of breweries, it gradually came to reflect an alternative attitude and approach to brewing flexibility, adaptability, experimentation and customer service.”

So….can we use the following word in the same spirit?

Microtraining

Not as in a form of focused training for some task but in the spirit of the microbreweries.

We have just finished our first 12 week session with a small group of runners and have our last workout for our triathletes tonight. We’ll begin our second session in a week with the goal of keeping the group size small. Sprinkle in a handful of individuals helped on a one on one basis and we have a “microtraining” program.

While I’m not up for any experimentation other than what I have done in my own training I do agree that the smaller group setting reflects an alternative attitude and approach to a training program with more flexibility, adaptability, and customer service.

Nothing against the bigger group programs as they have and will continue to introduce runners and walkers into what I think is a great community of people.

Now all I need to do is have my co-worker do a private label beer for our training group.
