Here are the highlights from this past week. (not much running)
Sat. July 26 - Hot and Humid. A tough run for everyone. One of those workouts that when you finish you tell yourself it made you tougher even if it really didn't. I saw Karen running to Market Street from her home when I was setting up. She ran home later which added a total of 7 additional miles to her daily mileage. I guess it's one of the effects of living next door to ultra runner Rick Cook.
After training we had our early season shoe clinic provided by Luke's Locker. Andrew Perry did a wonderful job with the presentation.
The always popular raffle prizes of training shirts and hats were graciously supplied by Luke's Locker.
After the clinic it was a short committee meeting with Team In Training coach Dana-Sue Crews, George Roffe, William Banes, and Jon Walk (and Waverly) at Berryhill over breakfast. We're in the very early stages of planning a January 5K to celebrate Bill Crew's 5th year of remission from cancer.
Sun. July 27 - Slept in. Went to church. Then an afternoon TWRC board meeting. All of the board members were in attendance. Lots of cool plans are being set for our club.
I did shuffle for about an hour after sunset so the neighbors wouldn't see how slow I run.
Mon. July 28 - Work and then a total crash...just updated some e-mail lists and was off to bed.
Tue. July 29 - Track Night! My favorite night. Kim's group did either 400's or 800's depending on if they were racing this weekend or not. The rebel beat runners did 8 x 300 with a 100 recovery. I jumped in for a few and actually felt good and had some snap.
Wed. July 30 - Repeat of Monday. Long day at work. Tried to write my group messages...hit the sack and sent the messages first thing Thursday morning.
Thurs. July 31 - Met William Banes at 7:30pm at Dueitt Middle School in Spring. I shuffled...no Tuesday snap in me. William did 3 miles in 27:14. He's only been training for about two months and he's older than me. Not quite fair.
