TIR Update

We’ve submitted our line up with a predicted time of 31:47:57. Jon’s submitted his teams line up but may have to go with 11 runners. This hurts us some as he’ll run a faster runner more often. The Blogger’s predicted time with an 11 person rotation is 31:40:14. He does have a possible 12th runner who would actually make his team even faster. Ouch.

I actually like being the underdog. The Blogger’s start one team behind us and if they don’t catch us by Wallis it’ll get interesting. If they catch us early…they’ll still have to be on their “A” game as Jon may have foreshadowed something with this post on his blog.

“But, if he springs Andrew free, which isn't likely, I do have to say that one of my favorite George Strait songs goes like this:”

You've got to have an ace in the hole
A little secret that nobody knows
Life is gamble, a game we all play
You need to save something for a rainy day
You've got to learn to play your cards right
If you expect to win at life
Don't put it all on the line for just one roll
You've got to have an ace in the hole

As much as I wish Andrew was running he can’t get the time off. A lot of the employees at Luke’s are running TIR and he is the odd man out having to work. There was some recient hope for him to be available but it has been confirmed this past weekend that he will not be available to run. We don't have our two 6 minute milers available....but we do have a very well balanced and motivated team who are doing this for the right reason....to have fun.

So what is the ace in the hole for the Texians? It comes down to not making any mistakes, working together as a team….and...(this part is saved for March 1 & 2)

Lets see –
Dirt Runner would see the connections and say that we have an edge.

1969 - New York Mets beat the Baltimore Orioles in the World Series
(living in Central NY you couldn't get away from the Mets on TV)

1980 – USA beats USSR in Olympic Hockey
(My hometown of Utica was on the main road to Lake Placid plus I had moved to Houston and actually ran my first marathon while the Winter Olympic Games were in progress...see previous post)

2007 - Appalachian State beats Michigan in College Football
(I was recruited by Appalachian State for wrestling - I stayed in NY)

2008 – Texian’s and Blogger’s battle in TIR Texas Throwdown – Winner TBD

There's no doubt that we'd be in a pickle if you had Kim and Andrew available.

Our roster adjustments have been in our favor, I must admit.
