Half Marathon Color Groups are Set

I waited until this week to set our WoodlandsFit Half Marathon color groups (pace groups). Everyone did great in the time trial today! For those that did not make training today, we'll place you in a group the next time you come out.

I don't know what the WoodlandsFit alumni think of us yet as we bring a little different style to our training group. We start with a mini clinic, then run/walk, then do a core routine (Kim Hagers influence) and will add the final touches of a stretching routine next week. We'll continue with this throughout our training. We'll be adding the Tuesday night track workouts (and maybe a second day option Wednesday) beginning August 21. The program clinics organized by Rich Cooper that follow our training and have been very good.

After training today I went to see Bill & Dana-Sue Crews at It's a Grind Coffee. Dana-Sue and her kids Morgan & Dylan wrote a book from her children's perspective about Bill's battle with cancer. The book, "Our Daddy's Cancer" has been published and they were doing a book signing today. The Crews are an amazing family. Dana-Sue qualified for Boston in her first marathon. Bill ran the half marathon while in treatment (with his doctors permission) and followed that by posting a very good marathon time the next year. He is currently in remission. They both do triathlons and competed together in a Half Ironman last October. They are now training for Ironman Arizona along with Jon Minor who was also in town today.

Well, I'm not Woodlands Fit alumni, since this is my first year, but I am inspired and secretly wishing our coach would do the same with us!

I'll just try to sneak in from time to time... after all, they say we must keep our friends close...
