Tuesday Night Track

We had a little different spin for Tuesday as Kim organized a max heart rate field test. Timex supplied loaner heart rate monitors for the evening. It doesn’t sound hard on paper…. after a long and thorough warm up, 3 min hard, 2 min easy, 3 min hard, but it was very tough. Everyone was up for it and she collected a lot of good data that will help everyone in the group dial in to the proper zones if they train with a HRM. If the don’t, they know what 100% effort feels like now.

There was a good mix of athletes with the Luke's Triathlon group, the Luke’s Beat runners and one new WoodlandsFit runner doing the field test. The organizer of WoodlandsFit, Rich Cooper, was also there which was perfect for me as I just happened to have a few questions for him on the upcoming training season. With the Fall Season Team In Training runners also there the track was a busy place.

TIR Update
Looks like there will be 3 The Woodlands Running Club teams and 2 WoodlandsFit teams to chase Jon Walks team for 30 plus hours. One more scary thought about our 6 minute miler Andrew….he will be running some of his legs at night. So when he makes the inevitable wrong turn he’ll get way off course and it’ll be dark and we won’t be able to find him for a few hours. Hmmmm…might be advantage Bloggers.

What? You guys have a 6 minute miler on your team? Can we handicap him by putting some lead ankle weights on him? You know, so he won't get too far off course.

We actually have 2 that run 6 min pace and a couple 7 min runners. The rest of us are 10 min milers unless we gain some speed over the next 8 months. We average about the same..... as you have a lot of 9 min milers. It'll be fun.

I think I like Holden's idea! :-)

Until I start seeing everybody on the other team running 24-minute 5K's, you know, I'm not worried.

Besides ... I may require some incentives to break from the traditional 1-12 rotation in runners.
