We did have a couple of our half marathoners take a wrong turn early in yesterdays WoodlandsFit 21/12 miler. The plan was to run the 12 miles starting at an easy 90 second slower than goal pace, slowly building at specific mileage points, finishing at goal pace, then do a 2 mile cool down for a total of 14 miles. So what happens if you make a turn and find yourself on what is one big 21 mile loop, and you're getting ready for a half marathon?
Our youngest runner, 17 year old Elizabeth McHale, did just that. With a little pacing help from The Woodlands Running Club member Jim Braden, who is probably one of the nations top 71 year old runners, the two cruised the course together and finished in fine form.
Our other runner making a wrong turn and ending up on the 21 mile route just happened to be Elizabeth's dad. Both get some extra rest and maybe a future clinic on reading maps.

Like JoePa, Thomas - being a Penn State fan - just went long! :)
I'm really impressed with both of their abilities on Tuesday nights at Knox. Elizabeth can fly so it doesn't surprise me that she hung that entire time with Jim.
I'm blessed to be around such great company.
My dad and I jumped in the pool and it was freezing cold but I think it was worth it, thanks! See you Saturday, can't wait.
I have known Tom his whole life and like his Dad, he can not read a map. But, like Robert Frost, I think he found two paths and decided to take the one less traveled. Great job at the half, keeping the McHale Running Train alive.
