The Sunmart Texas Trail Endurance Run 50K course has been changed. The first 6.7 mile out and back is now a 6.7 mile loop. This is actually a great change for the 50K runners.
In a note from Roger Soler to the participants: "We are looking forward to another great race this year. We have checked out the course in Huntsville and it is in tremendous shape. This year we are pleased to have former Olympian, Bob Kennedy as our guest speaker. Mr. Kennedy was the first non-African runner to break the 13 minute barrier in the 5000 meters."
Interesting Info
Race Director Roger Soler is also an Olympian. He represented his country of Peru in the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984 in the 5000 meters. His personal best 5K of 13.55.1 was run in 1985.
From Bob Kennedy's Bio "In 1992, Kennedy became the first runner since Al Lawrence 32 years earlier to win the NCAA and USA cross country crowns in the same year"
Al Lawrence ran for the University of Houston and was a Graduate Assistant when Dan Green ran for the Cougars.

Roger's a great guy! He runs a great business and is a badass runner.
Roger is a great friend of mine, my running mentor.....I guess I have no excuse to not show up at SunMart this year! I'll prolly go help with set up on Thursday/Friday and will run a little bandit lap on race day...living right down the road from the venue, I'm out of excuses why I can't show my face in the crowd....
Coach Bill are you volunteering or setting up a tent?? Iam thinking I want to go help out cheer on misty and see another blogger bud.
Viv..
Misty and I are riding up together early. She doesn't know how early yet (until she reads this) but we will be there for the 50 mile start. I will have the club tent and will set up about 200 yards from the start finish...a little away from the "tent city" area and right on the course.
Evan...
Agree!! Roger is a great guy and a great runner.
Sounds like quite a legacy of runners involved in Sunmart!
Thanks for being there yesterday. It was great too see you and Jon both as we came out of the woods it really helped.
