I could be very wrong (which I have been before and will be again), but those decisions don't really belong to Kotch. They're Karpas' to make and Jan Nierling takes care of making them happen.
The Chevron Houston Marathon is sponsoring the HARRA Just For Kids Fun Run this year so it is a win-win.
Brant Kotch took the time out of his busy day the day before the race to speak with me a little bit about his very good friend, Jerry Fuqua, who closed RunSport late last year, for a story that Edwin wrote for Footprints.
I really appreciated the hospitality that he and Megan Mastal - the marathon's PR representative - extended to Edwin and I so that we could try and cover the event from the floor of the Expo.
I, however, won't be doing it this year. I'm best served by simply running the race this coming January ... and more than likely, it will be my last Houston Marathon to run.
Finally, I'll be transitioning my HARRA duties to someone once I find somebody to replace me.
I’ve been a runner since the early 70’s, fairly competitive in the 80’s, ultra’s in the 90’s and not a lot since. I’m a member of The Woodlands Running Club and also an RRCA Certified Running Coach. I have recently formed a training group with the help of many great friends, Volte Endurance Training, with the mission to display Christian values, maintain high standards of excellence, promote integrity, respect the fundamental rights, dignity and worth of all our participants, apply and make public our knowledge of sport in order to contribute to the community and encourage all individuals, training groups and clubs. I have wonderful memories from all I’ve done and I know the best is still yet to come with all the great friends I have in the running community.

Maybe Brant Kotch read Jon's blog discussing the high race entry fees....and decided to give some back to the local running clubs with a little PR.
