Blind Sided - I didn't see it coming

Super Spy Waverly Walk totally manipulated me this week. She asked Kim Hager to ask me to move our training to the Run The Woodlands 5K so we could be there for her dads surprise birthday party. That being done and since we all love Jon I forwarded the info to the TNT group so they would be there also.

What I didn't know was that Waverly had picked up on a comment I had made at the track Tuesday night. Jon mentioned that this RTW would be his first event as a 40 year old.....and I had mentioned that the TNT reunion run at the Jan 27th RTW would be my first race as a 50 year old. We had several other January b-days at the track and we all talked about how cool it was that there were so many of us.

Now while I was busy trying to keep Jon's surprise a secret....Waverly and her mom Gena planned a double surprise. I did have a few clues like my wife asking about when exactly was I leaving the house Saturday morning.....and telling me I should run this race. I've been pretty sick the last two weeks so I did think it was a little strange that she was pushing me to see a doctor early in the week and now pushing me to run. I didn't connect the dots.

The word also got out to the TNT alumni ( the rebels ). I was busy getting signatures on a card for Jon and I still didn't click to all the "rebels" showing up at the event.

When Gena & my wife showed up I was floored. It was a really nice morning and sharing the birthday surprise with Jon made it extra special.

Many thanks to Gena, Sandie, Kim, Dana-Sue, Carol & the TNT group, the super Luke's staff, the TWRC runners, the Rebels, and everyone involved....especially Super Spy Waverly.
